Sushi arrives with a straightforward charm, embracing classic rolls and creative combinations alike, reflecting a menu mindful of both tradition and approachable variety. The presence of attentive staff adds warmth, coming alongside diners in a way that feels earnest, if a touch eager—like a host striving to make sure each experience runs smoothly.

Families and casual diners find here a practical yet welcoming setting, where the steady pace allows for easy conversation and shared discovery over dishes like hibachi lobster or colorful sushi rolls. The overall feeling is one of a quietly authentic local haunt, distinct from bustling city spots but no less sincere in sharing its flavors and subtle hospitality.

Good food here. Just a typical shopping center restaurant. My go to is the Fulton Roll. No hibachi tables, but they have hibachi style entrees.

Very authentic Japaneese food with a great variety on the menu and clean floors and tables. The staff came around a little more often than I prefer, probably 8 or so times during the meal, so I felt somewhat rushed. They were kind, and I think they genuinely wanted to be of assistance, but it interrupted our light conversation by constantly having to answer. It was a good casual place for kids and adults. Since the restaurant sits in a former mini strip mall type area, there is no lack of available parking. Prices were affordable and the food tasted fresh.

The sushi is okay. The hibachi is very good. Plentiful servings! Their sauce is also very good. For small town Mississippi it is better than average.

Here’s a NED-style review for Yamato Hibachi & Sushi: --- What Works Well - Authentic Japanese hibachi and sushi with fresh ingredients and skilled chefs. - Entertaining hibachi grill experience—great for groups and celebrations. - Wide sushi selection including rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. - Friendly, attentive staff who engage well during hibachi cooking. - Generous portions and good value for hibachi shows. --- What to Watch Out For - Can get noisy during hibachi service—less ideal for quiet meals. - Some sushi rolls can be standard rather than innovative. - Wait times can be long during peak hours or weekends. - Decor is functional but not upscale. --- Verdict Yamato Hibachi & Sushi is a reliable spot for fun hibachi dining and fresh sushi, perfect for groups and casual Japanese food lovers. Rating: 4.1 / 5 --- Want recommendations for best hibachi dishes or sushi rolls?

The lobster hibachi was excellent. We also loved the sushi bento and fried soft shell crab.
